What They Don’t Teach You About LinkedIn

Hello Producers,

Fistly, I messed up the publishing date so I apologise for sending this again now.

Quick heads-up. At the end of this newsletter, there’s a little something extra for paid subscribers, quotes I loved, favourtie takeaway and tools with links mentioned.

If you’re already supporting, thank you. If not, and you want to go deeper, I’ve also put together a new Stan Store with everything I offer, from services and lessons to my full podcasting kit. Either way, glad you’re here!

Sometimes you have a recording planned a long time in advance and sometimes you go freestyle at the last minute. While I’m someone who likes to be organised and plan ahead, this recording was the latter and it was amazing. As you’ll read in one of my lessons, I think it’s safe to say we’ve built a great relationship with Sab simply by engaging on LinkedIn, so this was one of those conversations you genuinely look forward to. Like when you catch up with your university friends after a while, as he perfectly described.

While the technology did not like us and the recording failed towards the end, do not focus on that now, haha. I genuinely enjoyed it and I’m sure you will too.

One Niche, Big Impact: The Power of Knowing Who You Serve | #106: Sabahudin Murtic

Sabahudin Murtic is the author of LinkedIn for Affiliate Marketing and creator of the ACE Framework, a system that helps publishers and advertisers in the affiliate space generate 3 to 5 high-quality leads each week without relying solely on industry events. Sab helps professionals turn LinkedIn into a consistent source of real partnerships and business growth without chasing likes or becoming full-time content creators.

In this episode, hear how Sab’s career across several industries led him to discover LinkedIn’s untapped potential, sparked by the influence of one of the platform’s top creators. He explains why you should not be afraid to pivot, take risks and commit to a niche. Learn how to stand out in a crowded market, build a recognisable voice and establish real authority in a conversation between two friends brought together by the platform they now use to grow and collaborate.

Lesson 1: Find Your Own Unique Angle

As someone familiar with AI, I could not resist asking Sab about his favourite AI tools and diving deeper into the topic. He definitely earned extra points for mentioning the one and only tool everyone should try. But despite being an AI pro, he said he does not actually use it to write his posts. He uses it to support his work, but the words are still his.

What really stood out is his use of smart, relatable and unique metaphors. They help his content resonate and make it memorable. If you have not heard the coffee shop analogy he shared, you are missing out. I think it is brilliant. But that does not mean you should copy his style. It means you should find your own.

Maybe it is the way you explain things. Maybe it is a recognisable phrase or twist you always include. Something that makes your content distinct from the generic AI or non-AI content out there. And do not be afraid to experiment.

Lesson 2: Build a Strategy That Works for You

Every day we are hit with new advice on how to grow on LinkedIn. Tips, tricks and so-called secrets promising faster results. Do they work? Maybe. But the real lesson is to figure out what works for you.

I cheekily asked Sab when he posts on LinkedIn. He had told me before that he does not have a set time. That goes against most advice, right? People say you should always post at the same time. But why force a routine if it does not suit you, or if you simply do not enjoy it?

Yes, Sab could test new approaches. But if this works for him, why change it? The key takeaway is not to blindly follow every piece of advice. Pick what is suitable, enjoyable and realistic for your situation. Make it your own. Make it fun.

Lesson 3: Adapt to Changing Conditions

Honestly, I had no idea about Sab’s background. Without giving too much away, he used to work in banking, with a connection to cryptocurrency. Then he moved into tourism. And due to changing conditions like COVID, he had to pivot again.

We all remember those difficult times, and I can only imagine what that shift was like. He turned to LinkedIn to look for a job, and if you heard the episode, you know how that story turned out.

It is never easy to face uncertainty, but sometimes those moments lead us to new opportunities we never expected. Sab’s story is a reminder of that. It is a great example of how staying open and adaptable can lead to something even better. I will try to remember that the next time things get uncertain.

Lesson 4: Own Your Niche

Yes, you have heard this before. But it is repeated for a reason. Sab is the perfect example of why it matters. Let me ask you something. Do you know anyone else creating content specifically for affiliate marketers?

If you do, I will send you a virtual cake, because I do not. Maybe I missed them, but you get the point. There are so many people on LinkedIn offering branding, lead generation, or design services to founders, CEOs or entrepreneurs.

There is high demand there, but also high competition. Sab chose a specific niche where he is carving out his space and aiming to dominate it. That is a smart move, and clearly it is working.

So find your niche. Become known for it. Keep exploring until you find the one that fits. And once you do, own it.

Lesson 5: Tap Into the Platform’s Potential

This is my favourite lesson, and honestly one of my favourites overall. The title is intentionally open. Platform can mean LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, whatever you use. Potential could mean networking, content, reach, or something else.

In this case, it is about LinkedIn and connection. I never knew Sab before. We are from different places, industries and backgrounds. But by simply engaging on LinkedIn with no agenda, we connected, supported one another and ended up recording a fantastic episode together.

It was unplanned and last minute, which made it even better in some ways. And that is the point. Think about the platform you are on. Think about the potential it offers. Take advantage of it. You never know what it could lead to.

Listen Now

I’m always curious to hear people’s journeys, backgrounds and reasons for joining the platform and Sab is no exception. No spoilers, but he experienced some career changes that led him to discovering LinkedIn and I think it perfectly shows that it is never too late to start. Do not underestimate its potential and it is worth devoting time to it. I think it is safe to say that this episode has it all. Of course, we could have talked for much longer but we had a lot of fun, there are plenty of nuggets of wisdom on how to grow your brand on LinkedIn and loads of helpful inspiration.

By the way, did I mention that Sab revealed something he has never said publicly before? Wait, what? Tune in to find out!
